Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Taleb, the Saudi Cultural Attaché to Australia, met in his office in Canberra on Thursday 3rd of March, 2016 a group of Australian officials including Mr. Stephen Trengove-Jones from the Australian Government’s Department of Education and Training; Ms. Lucy Carlsen from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mr. Mark Wood from Austrade and Mr. Symeon Collette from Department of Education and Training, in presence of Dr. Abbas Brashi the Deputy Attaché, Cultural & Social Affairs. Delegates of Flinders and La Trobe universities also visited SACM. On the other hand, Professor Steve Chapman Vice-Chancellor of Edith Cowan University visited Saudi Embassy in Canberra on Friday 26th February 2016 in the context of Saudi-Australian cultural and education exchange.
The visits aimed at discussing the activities of Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission as they relate to supporting education cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Australia. Information was provided about Saudi scholarship program, SACM’s cultural activities and its role in promoting Australian education. Issues relating to Saudi students in Australia were also discussed. Samples of SACM’s publications were presented to the visiting groups, highlighting SACM’s services and its contribution in enriching cultural, education and scientific exchange between Saudi Arabia and Australia.
